ROME -- Italy is resting captain and No. 8 Sergio Parisse for its penultimate Six Nations match against Ireland at Lansdowne Road. Parisse has a calf injury and coach Jacques Brunel has decided to save him for next weeks tournament closer at home against England. Prop Martin Castrogiovanni, tied with Parisse as Italys most capped player, will hold the record by himself when he makes his 105th appearance on Saturday. Robert Barbieri moves from the openside flank to take Parisses place at No. 8, and lock Marco Bortolami will captain the side for the 39th time in Dublin. "With five players unavailable we had to adapt ourselves," Brunel said on Thursday. "Among the halfbacks we wanted to give a chance to those who had played less like (Luciano) Orquera, also because against Scotland we didnt manage the pressure well in our half. I wanted to integrate (Tito) Tebaldi into the group before the tournament but he had a slight injury and we couldnt select him. "The choices made are not in relation to next Saturdays game in Rome against England but based on consistency that we want to have. The next match is against Ireland and we have prepared for the match against that opponent." Bortolami has been promoted from the bench, along with Paul Derbyshire and Luciano Orquera. Alessandro Zanni is also injured and he will be replaced as blindside flanker by Joshua Furno, who moves from the second row. Bortolami comes in for Furno, while Derbyshire takes up Barbieris position in the No. 7 jersey. At flyhalf, Orquera bumps out Tommaso Allan, while Tebaldi replaces Edoardo Gori for his appearance in almost two years. Italy has lost all three of its matches. "Ireland is certainly a better squad than last year," Brunel said. "But we have to remember that we beat them barely a year ago in Rome and in a rather convincing fashion. We have the chance to do so again." ------ Italy: Luke McLean, Angelo Esposito, Michele Campagnaro, Gonzalo Garcia, Leonardo Sarto, Luciano Orquera, Tito Tebaldi; Robert Barbieri, Paul Derbyshire, Joshua Furno, Marco Bortolami (captain), Quintin Geldenhuys, Martin Castrogiovani, Leonardo Ghiraldini, Alberto de Marchi. Reserves: Davide Giazzon, Michele Rizzo, Lorenzo Cittadini, Antonio Pavanello, Manoa Vosawai, Edoardo Gori, Tommaso Allan, Andrea Masi. Vincent Lecavalier - whose Philadelphia Flyers host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night - told reporters after the morning skate that it does make him think twice about the subject, but stopped short on saying if it should be taken out altogether. "Yes," he said when asked if the Parros-Colton Orr tussle made him question fighting. "Sure, people will be talking about it for weeks, (but) fighting is part of the game" Parros, a long-time NHL enforcer, was taken from the ice on a stretcher after being pulled face-first to the ice during a fight with Orr on Tuesday night. Parros face hit the ice heavily, and he was bleeding and looked woozy as a team of trainers spent several minutes treating him on the ice. The Canadiens announced that he was released from hospital on Wednesday morning and is out indefinitely with a concussion. "I personally think you need fights in hockey to keep every one honest," said Flyers captain Claude Girroux on Wednesday.dddddddddddd "But you get sick to your stomach seeing stuff like that." Parros, playing his first game for Montreal in the NHL season opener against Toronto, was in his second fight of the game with Colton Orr when he was injured. The two players have gone toe-to-toe before, most notably in a game on Jan. 20, 2011 when Orr suffered a concussion after smacking his face on the ice at the end of a first-period fight with Parros - who was then playing for the Anaheim Ducks. "It definitely makes you think twice about it for sure," said Flyers defenceman Luke Schenn, who saw the fight in that game as a member of the Maple Leafs. "But at the same time its part of it." Some of Parros teammates are also hesitant to conclude that the incident should reignite a debate about fighting. "I see more players get hurt from hits, collisions, from pucks, than I do from fights," said Canadiens defenceman Josh Gorges on Tuesday. "I dont think saying because a player got hurt in a fight that now we have to talk about taking fighting away. And I bet that if you ask George (Parros), hell be the first to agree with me on that one too." ' ' '
