Both teams started many of the players that will be starting for them on a daily basis in 2019. The first six innings offered very little in the way of offense. Since both teams played so many regulars, this suggests that the pitching was quite good. Burnes threw three scoreless innings, giving up no runs on three hits, and he struck out four. Matt Albers pitched a scoreless fourth as he continues to pitch well this spring. Alex Claudio and Taylor Williams put up zeros in the fifth and sixth innings.The only threat in the first six innings came from Milwaukee. Christian Yelich doubled with two outsin the top of the third inning. Jesus Aguilar followed with a single moving Yelich to third. Bud Black took the ball from Bettis after the Aguilar single, switching to Jesus Tinoco. Tinoco induced a ground ball from Travis Shaw eliminating the Brewers’ threat. Tyler Saladino finally opened the scoring in the seventh inning. Saladino doubled to left field scoring Jake Hager who pitch ran for Orlando Arcia after the Brewers’ shortstop singled to right field. Jake Petricka took over in the bottom of the seventh and pitched another scoreless inning, striking out two of the hitters he faced. In the top of the eighth, the Brewers mounted another threat. Nate Orf singled and stole second base.
