In some respects, the assessments of Howard read very similar to those of Geron Christian, last year’s third round pick. Howard is athletic, but lacks the strength to currently start at the pro level. Despite that caveat, with a year or two of conditioning, it appears he can be an NFL starter. He might not play in Sunday’s regular-season finale at the New York Giants. Whether because of injuries or veterans blocking their path, it just wasn’t easy for the group to stay on the field.
