Despite playing at a “small school” Howard faced some top notch competition, including playing Auburn, where he was able to hold his own and catch the eye of NFL scouts. His biggest apparent weakness is his hand usage, which, under the tutelage of an offensive line guru, presumably could be addressed without much issue. In some respects, the assessments of Howard read very similar to those of Geron Christian, last year’s third round pick. Howard is athletic, but lacks the strength to currently start at the pro level. Despite that caveat, with a year or two of conditioning, it appears he can be an NFL starter. To that point, word is Howard has 24 team visits in the lead up to the draft, which is pretty crazy.StrengthsHas good lateral mobility and patienceGood foot speed and bendHas good athletic abilityGood postureGreat wingspanPlays with good effortWeaknessesNeeds to get stronger, absorbs too much contactSoft punch, and can get walked backHas to refine techniquePlayed RT exclusively in collegeLet’s see his workHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsYou can never have too many talented offensive linemen. Howard, despite being from a small, FCS school is highly regarded. He would be another project for Bill Callahan, as he still needs some finishing work, but if Christian flops, he could potentially be groomed to replace the Silverback. He’s demonstrated athleticism, though he clearly needs to work on his hand placement and strength. Of course, if he didn’t have those weaknesses, he’d likely be a first or second rounder.Given his late day 2/early day 3 draft grade Sean Taylor Jersey , the Redskins may simply have too many other needs, and he may be too hot a commodity to fall to us. But, if he happens to slip through as the draft drags on during day 3, he may be too talented to pass up. Could He Provide the Redskins Depth At the Slot?"Terry Godwin II, WRSchool: Georgia | Conference: SECCollege Experience: Senior | Age: 21?Height / Weight: 5-11 / 184 lbsProjected Draft Status: 5th - 7th RoundNFL Comparison: Corey BrownCollege StatisticsPlayer OverviewA talented, multi-sport athlete, Terry Godwin turned down a career as a Major League Baseball player with the Braves in 2016 in order that he could continue his football path at the University of Georgia, where he was eventually a 4-year starter. Godwin incrementally increased receptions, yardage, and touchdowns in his first three years, topping out at 38 receptions for 639 yards and 6 TDs his junior season, only to have his senior year production dampened by leg injuries early on. Godwin finished 2018 strong, however, with an invite to the East-West Shrine Game, where he caught 4 passes for 80 yards and 2 TDs, performing well enough to be named MVP of the game. Though Godwin has played in Riley Ridley’s shadow - and will almost certainly be drafted several rounds after Ridley - his performance demands attention in its own rightStrengthsGood ability to bring in sideline passes.Strong route running ability.Soft, strong hands and the capacity to grab a range of balls. Only dropped one pass in 2018.Can perform against top college talent.Very sudden and agile.WeaknessesRelatively small and slight stature could be a durability concern.Lacks physicality.Doesn’t possess explosive, deep speed. Not capable of providing much blocking assistance.Let’s see his workHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsIf drafted by the Redskins, he could immediately join the competition for the slot receiver position vacated by Jamison Crowder, as well as potentially provide depth for the punt returner and/or kick returner roles (he attempted 9 returns at UGA). His small frame raises some question about his ability to stand up to repeated punishment from NFL defenders, but his sure hands and sharp route running capabilities could certainly help upgrade the Redskins’ anemic WR group.A late round flyer on a tenacious receiver like Godwin makes a ton of sense for a team with so little depth at the position currently. There’s also reason to believe that, because of the talent and offensive weapons surrounding him at Georgia, his true value may be getting underestimated, and that if he's given a more prominent role in an offense, he’ll be able to demonstrate just how talented he is.
